Daniel W. Brewster received both his BA and MA from WVU, and has been a faculty member in the Department of Sociology since 2004. During that time, he has worked tirelessly to support others and help create a more fair and loving campus, community, state, country, and world. He strives to provide knowledge and awareness to others through all aspects of his life including the courses he teaches, sponsoring special events/programs on campus/community, and working with SGA and student organizations.

Daniel serves on the Commission for LGBTQ Equity; Council for Women’s Concerns, where he chaired the Women of Color Luncheon in 2017; Diversity Week Planning Committee; Greek Advisory Board; and serves as faculty advisor for numerous student organizations including Global Medical and Dental Brigades for which he planned and traveled abroad with students during spring break the past three years to provide support to people in Honduras, Panama, and Nicaragua. He is also a member of the Safe Zone community.

Recently, The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences named Daniel Professor of the Year for the 2016-17 academic year. He has also received the WVU NAACP Professor of the Year - 2015-16; NAACP Champion of Change – 2015; Richard T Feller Award for Outstanding Service to Students – 2015; Morgantown Magazine Professor of the Year - 2015-16; WVU TLC Diversity Grant Award Recipient - 2016-17; and Daily Athenaeum Who’s Who at WVU - 2012 and 2014.
