If an accommodation is unsuccessful because the employee cannot perform the essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation, the employee may be placed in ADA Monitoring for four months, rather than lose employment for failure to perform.
The employee is referred to the Employment Unit of Human Resources by ADA Coordinator,
- Discusses process with Employee
- Provides letter to Employee, Supervisor, Medical Management and the Employment Unit, indicating referral to Employment for ADA Monitoring
- Provides Employment with employee’s restrictions
- Meets with the employee to determine his/her relevant skills and abilities; monitors job postings and considers employees in this program for reassignment to vacant positions within WVU consistent with their skills, abilities and restrictions
Persons in this program are given preferential placement if they qualify for vacant positions at their current pay grade/assignment level or below.
Employees who refuse positions when offered are removed from the program by Employment after consultation with the ADA Coordinator.
If ADA monitoring is unsuccessful or if the four months of monitoring are at an end, the employee is separated from the University by the Vice President for Human Resources, who notifies the employee and the ADA Coordinator of this action.
